Mr. Kovac brings his experiences over 25 years as a financial professional to a team. During his career, Steve has played many roles in a diverse range of publicly traded and private equity backed companies. Among other things, he has had financial oversight of as many as 75 cellular markets, reengineered and upgraded systems technologies, implemented Sarbanes-Oxley procedures; and negotiated and closed a number of M&A transactions and an IPO.
Over the past 5 plus years Mr. Kovac has been the Chief Financial Officer of both First Broadcasting and Una Vez Mas Television Group, portfolio companies of Alta Communications, a prominent media private equity group in Boston. Prior to his present engagement, Mr. Kovac was CFO of Interphase Corporation, an international technology manufacturer of computer and telecommunications networking equipment. Before that, he served as COO and CFO of The People’s Network, a 24/7 network for The Success Channel and as Regional VP of Finance and CFO of AT&T Wireless Services, McCaw Cellular Communications and Lin Cellular Communications, Inc. Steve has also been Corporate Controller of Otrona Advanced Systems Corporation, a portable computer manufacturer. Steve began his career as an Audit Division accountant at Arthur Andersen & Company, a Big Four accounting firm. Mr. Kovac was first licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Colorado in 1981, and also in Texas in 1989. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kent State University. In excellent health, he is a former NCAA athlete.
